Cyclocross season is in full swing!
Last year, I couldn't race cross due to a knee injury; so this season, I'm out trying to represent the 529 colors...

Leavenworth - Bavarian Bike and Brew - Indie Series XC race
Saturday, June 7th was the annual Bike and Brew race in Leavenworth, WA.
It was a great day for racing. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. 529 had a great showing of racers.... J, Raman, Don and Tina all went off with their respective age groups for the beginner loop. J took a top 10 finish and Tina a 3rd place! I raced Sport and came in around the middle of the pack after 2 laps. My legs were starting to feel like jello at the top of the 2nd lap. If you've never ridden Leavenworth, it starts to feel like a lot of climbing after a while... Craig was out with the experts and I think he did fairly well.
On Sunday, a number of us went out to ride Devil's Gulch. Climbed from 1800 ft to 5000 ft and then back down the Devil's Gulch trail. It was awesome! Highly recommend it.
All together, I figure about 8200+ ft of climbing over 3 days of riding and pre-riding this weekend. It was a great weekend. Can't wait for it again next year. I'd like to plan a weekend in Leavenworth again for July... any takers???

Today was the first MTB XC race of the season. BuDu Racing (http://www.buduracing.com) put on an event at the SeaTac course.
It was a good showing of racers across all categories. I took 5th place in the Sport Category Age 30-39 with 3 laps = 12 miles in 1:01 total time. The average expert category racers did about 29 minute laps; and my laps were at about 33 minutes each. In the final lap, I broke my front derailleur shifter pod. Fluke accident. Came around a tight corner and smacked it against a tree. That didn't help me very much as I had to finish out the race in the little ring up front. Should've taken 4th place, but another rider was able to overcome me while I was having shifting problems. It was good to get back into the race scene after a long and frustrating winter. My sister (living in Seattle) came out to support me and my #1 fan (little Kada). She was pretty cute out there wearing her support t-shirt.

2nd Place series overall finish for the 2007 Indies Series XC MTB. Finished 3rd Place today in the final race at Greenwater. The course was awesome. About 4+ miles of gentle climbing followed by a good fast descent and some fast, flowy singletrack. Paul (529 XC) kicked ass today. He was on fire!!! Went blazing by me just before the climbing began, and I could only catch a glimpse of the back of his 529 jersey the rest of the race. Nice work, Paul! He took 2nd Place yesterday for the race; so there were 2 of us on the 529 team on the podium yesterday.

Sea-Tac Shuffle - 2007 - Seattle, WA
1st Place
Whidbey Island Mudder - Washington - 2007
4th Place

I was riding out around Horsetooth Rock in Fort Collins, CO; and I came up on a pretty tricky technical downhill section. This sign gave me a laugh. It's of course suppposed to read "Riders Dismount"... but you can see that the locals prefer to ride it instead :)
